Spicy Baked Ziti with Hot Italian Dry Sausage


  • 1 pound Daniele Hot Italian Dry Sausage
  • 1 pound dry ziti pasta
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 14.5 ounce can peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Method of Preparation

Cook pasta according to package directions, drain – set aside. In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage with green bell pepper and onion until sausage is evenly cooked, drain. In another skillet over medium-low heat, combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic powder, salt, and oregano. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using a 3 quart baking dish, layer ziti, sausage, mozzarella cheese, and sauce. Repeat layers, and top with Parmesan cheese. Bake in the preheated oven 45 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
